International Conference in Jachranka 23-25 November 2016

On 23-25 November 2016 took place an international conference entitled "Risk in the food economy - theory and practice" in Jachranka, near Warsaw. The Conference was organized under the Multi-Annual Program 2015-2019 "The Polish and the EU agricultures 2020+. Challenges, chances, threats, proposals" by the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute.

The conference was attended by ca. 150 participants including representatives of research institutes, universities, public administration, the world of politics, farm advisory agencies, bank and insurance sector, industry organisations and economic practice, media representatives.

The conference focusses on the following 14 themes:

1. Mega-trends and transmission of shocks versus risk in the agri-food sector.
2. Fundamental risk management issues within the food sector.
3. Microeconomic roots of risk in the food sector.
4. Public policy including agricultural policy in the risk management context.
5. Social polarization and economic stability issues in agriculture.
6. Structural changes and risk management.
7. Exo- and endogenous risks of innovative development within the agri-food sector.
8. Environmental threat in sustainable development processes.
9. Bio-economy and economy in the closed cycle. Problems of risk.
10. GMO in agriculture. Multi-dimensional issue of opportunities and threats.
11. Production, price and income risks for agricultural enterprises and farms.
12. Risk factors and their reduction on agricultural markets today and in the future.
13. Determinants of margin volatility risk in agri-food sector.
14. Risk classes and risk assessment (valuation) in agri-food sector.
